Week 1 - Embarking on Our Extra Cash Journey (Hybrid)

Where to Begin?

If you're like us, you've probably been intrigued by the promise of easy extra cash from online surveys. Those ubiquitous ads boasting "up to $10 per 5-minute survey" and "earn up to $1500 a month" can be tantalizing. We decided to dive in and explore this world, but not without some research first.

Our initial foray into online surveys wasn't as lucrative as promised. Despite carefully avoiding spammy links and doing our due diligence via Google, we quickly discovered the reality was far from the hype. After parting with our email addresses and personal details, we signed up on a couple of survey sites. The results? Disappointing, to say the least. The highest paying surveys offered just $1.50, and more often than not, we were deemed ineligible after just a couple of screens. This frustrating pattern made us realize the truth behind those enticing "up to" claims.

Determined not to give up, we shifted our focus to freelance work on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr. The registration process was time-consuming, and setting up a profile felt like applying for a job all over again. As we browsed through job listings and hourly rates, we realized we were essentially extending our working hours. It became clear we needed a more strategic approach.

This is where our blog comes into the picture. We figured we couldn't be the only ones seeking additional income, so why not document our journey? Our blog will chronicle our efforts to earn extra cash, sharing the highs and lows, successes and failures, as we navigate this new territory. While the blog itself is a potential income source, it's just one of many avenues we plan to explore.

My wife, who works part-time for her family business, also joined the freelancing experiment. With her flexible schedule, freelancing seemed like a natural fit. Together, we're pooling our efforts and resources, making the most of our time and skills.

What Can You Expect?

We plan to write about our weekly endeavors to earn extra income as a husband-and-wife team. Coming from a background of salaried employment, we're complete newcomers to this process. We pledge to be as transparent as possible, detailing every aspect of our income and expenses each week. To add a fun twist, we'll maintain a statistics section on the site, breaking down our earnings by "husband" and "wife" to create a bit of friendly competition.
